Role & Responsibility
As a Braunton Care Domiciliary Care Assistant, you will care and support our Service Users in their own home in a variety of different manners, based on each individuals circumstances. You will provide companionship and personal care, oversee medication and be involved in meal preparation, light domestic tasks and even shopping. You will get to know each individual you are caring for and understand exactly what it is they want and need, helping them to achieve things that they wouldn’t be able to do by themselves, allowing them to live independently in their own home. By providing a listening ear and understanding, you will treat all of our Service Users with dignity, patience and compassion whilst developing relationships based on trust, respect and reassurance.
The Ideal Candidate
As a care assistant, it is vitally important that you will be kind hearted, considerate and compassionate towards our Service Users. You must have a caring nature and a positive social disposition. You must be an excellent communicator and know exactly when you should listen as well as when to step in and help if necessary. You will understand what our Service Users need and will do everything you can to make it happen. Being good at multitasking goes without saying; being able to remain calm under pressure whilst also carrying out certain tasks and attention to detail is typical of a care assistant. If you have previous experience in care work then that would prove useful but isn’t a necessity as we provide full training and can put you through your Health and Social Care NVQ/QCF qualification whilst working.
Once successful, you will take part in our Induction process which will ease you into your role and establish which areas you are most confident in and which areas need improvement. You will also go out and shadow other care workers in the community; this is the perfect opportunity to meet everyone and get to know each other; both Service Users and Colleagues. A programme of continuous training and development will be implemented at the start of your employment to establish your own individual training needs, ensuring you are kept fully up to date with National Requirements and Regulations.
